Teen Buddy's / ABA Therapists Needed

Work alongside a teenager with special needs assisting and encouraging:

•  Social language skills
•  Language Concepts
•  Aid challenging behaviours
•  Functional Skills
•  Help teen to live more independently  
•  Have and maintain meaningful relationships
•  Participate in recreational activities

We have the following Teen Buddy positions to be filled.

Miramar Teen Buddy  who is confident and fun needed for a shy, happy teenage girl who is in the Autism Spectrum. The Teen Buddy will need to have understanding / experience of Autism. This position is for a fortnightly outing on a Saturday morning or afternoon.

Miramar Teen Buddy who is friendly and kind  needed for a shy, lovely natured teenaged girl who has Autism. Excellent communication skills are needed for this fortnightly placement. You will need an enjoyment of swimming , and an ability to build confidence in people. Experience with Autism is necessary.

Lower Hutt Teen Buddy who is fluent in Sign Langauge and has experience/ knowlegde of Autism for a 21 year old girl who desperatley needs a friend she can communicate with and enjoy the company of. Days of work neg.

Teacher Aid  for a pleasent, smart ,active 8 year old  boy in a  Lower Hutt primary school . This position would be suited to an energeitic person with the ability to manange attention to task and work completion skills. an understanding of Autism(higher functioning) and ADHD is prefered.

COURSE DETAILS

WHERE: Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce 15 Daly Street Level 3,
Riverside Tower, Lower Hutt
DURATION: 4 Weeks
TIME: 9.00am to 3.00pm Monday to Friday
DATE: February 2012 (start date to be confirmed). 

On completion of the course students will gain the following Certificates:

• Special Needs Care and Management Certificate
• Mental Health 101 Certificate
• First Aid Certificate

Special Needs Care and Management Course may be Free if you are registered with Work and Income NZ

( Note that confirmation of eligibility for Work and Income New Zealand funding is required further information regarding this subsidy will be available in the New Year)
